A couple of days ago we shared some of the most hilarious responses to the US airways NSFW image tweet. Missed it? Check here.
Well, there’s an update to the story, and a surprising one at that. Typically, in a situation like this, heads must roll. The offending “tweeter” would be ushered out of the building faster than he could say 140 characters worth of apologies.
Not this time. While there are countless incidents where an company has fired an employee or agency due to this sort of “epic fail”, US Airways is taking a different flight route – the responsible employee (he or she was in-house) won’t face any sort of reprimand or disciplinary action.
“The individual who was involved will not be reprimanded or anything of the sort,” said Matt Miller, a spokesman for American Airlines (which merged with US Airways). “It was an honest mistake.”

Was it “fire worthy”?
Was US Airways right to see it as an accident, and to resist the urge to scapegoat the responsible employee?
Or is it aaaaaallll a sneaky publicity campaign (conspiracy theorists unite!)?
